Banzai!
* *Skiing in New York * *
This winter I went skiing with my family in New York at Happy Valley, and man was it freezing! I think the warmest it got was 20 degrees. The whole time we were skiing snow was slowly drifting down, it was so pretty. Although, on the ski lift when they are making snow it blows right in your face to the point where you wonder if your face is still even there.
At first when I got back into skiing my first hill was definitely the most challenging. When we were supposed to go down a green (easy) run to start off with, my mom took a wrong turn and we ended up going down a harder one. I was so nervous because I didn’t want to fall since getting back up on a mountain is hard. My calves were tensed up so tight but I made it down perfectly. To bad the tensing turned into pain for the next 3 days. But oh well it was worth it.
Traditions??
In my family we go skiing for Christmas, This year on Christmas I spent 7 hours in the car driving to New York. Not the most fun thing to do. When most people were opening presents and spending time around a fire with family (you know the perfect family scenes you see on TV) I was in the car eating gas station food because no one was open on Christmas. As I was in the car I just stared out the window and saw families together in their Christmas sweaters and only dreamed of having that. I want a stereotypical Christmas. I want the food, family, tradition. The celebration of Jesus Christ being born and not just focusing on the materialistic aspects. I want tradition. All I want for Christmas next year is that kind of Christmas. I only have 2 years left before college to spend vacations with my family and I just want a story book ending. Skiing is fun but I still just want that tradition and I want the magical element of it all put back in. You see little kids eyes light up when you talk about Christmas. They get snuggled in bed and all ready so Santa will come, but now for all the years I’ve known he isn’t real the magic has slowly been dying out of this holiday for me. I just want that back.

Good deeds never tasted so good
Our whole small group sitting down to decorate all the cookies we made :)
I think we went a little overboard with the decorating….
And those were only some of the plates of cookies. By the end of the night we have 14 plates of cookies that we took with us to give to the people.
Briana, Ashley, and Lauren making their cookie
Putting sprinkles on my gingerbread man shaped cookie :)
When we delivered all the cookie plates that we made to the elderly people that were in their shut-ins their faces immediately brightened up and it made my day. Nothing makes you feel better than doing a good dead for someone else.
Deuteronomy 15:10
Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to.
This verse fits perfectly because it truly shows that if you give you will be blessed and I am blessed because my Lord gives to me. Because He gives to me I will give to others, and will continue to do so. The feeling of making someone happy is priceless.
Tis the season to give! So give generously and with an open heart. Don’t take more than you give and always find ways to show God’s love to others.

Got Balls?

I'm sorry I can't, I have tennis...
..."Umm no, I have tennis tonight.
Basically from April to October my life is all about tennis, it is when I am most driven to succeed. The sport makes me feel alive and its a feeling that is indescribable. When I get out on that court I get so nervous because I never know how good my opponent is going to be. But, when I see my coach, all my fears go away because I know she believes in me, which makes me believe more in myself, that I am able to accomplish anything that is set in front of me.
The best part of the season is hanging with all of my girls and getting to play some of my toughest competition. (Usually Centerville, Beavercreek, and Fairmont)
| This was at Centerville High School, where me and Marianne got awards. I ended up taking home an award for an honorable mention in the Miami Valley. |
